Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger should be fit to play against Serbia on Friday despite missing two team practice sessions because of a cold.

Assistant coach Hansi Flick says Schweinsteiger is getting better although he sat out Wednesday's training to work on his own at the team's base outside Pretoria. Schweinsteiger did not train Tuesday but was expected to practice with the team in Port Elizabeth on Thursday ahead of the Group D match.

Following an outbreak of cold weather, Flick said Germany's players have been told to dress warmly and blow-dry their hair after showers - and "to listen to their mothers' advice."
