Schalke signs Hoffenheim forward Obasi

Schalke have signed Hoffenheim forward Chinedu Obasi on loan until the end of the season.
Obasi was suspended from the Hoffenheim first-team squad recently for disciplinary reasons and his future under coach Holger Stanislawski looked bleak.
However, he now has the chance to revive his career after joining the Royal Blues until next summer.
"He is a quick and versatile forward," said Schalke's general manager Horst Heldt on his club's website.
"In addition, he is eligible to play for us in Europe."
The 25-year-old will join his new team-mates for their mid-season training camp in Qatar from January 4.
Should he impress between now and May, Schalke have already secured an option to make the move a permanent one.
Obasi joined Hoffenheim in 2007 and has scored 13 goals in 65 Bundesliga appearances.
