Santa Fe claimed their place in the last 16 of the Copa Sudamericana after beating Deportivo Cali in a penalty shootout.

With the first leg ending in a 1-1 draw, the teams could not be separated in the return match either with Juan Roa's own goal giving Deportivo the lead after 16 minutes before the visitors equalised through Sergio Galvan Rey (66).

A shootout was needed to settle the contest and Hernan Burbano was the only player to miss the target, handing Santa Fe the victory 6-5.

In today's other second round match, Liga de Quito beat Trujillanos 1-0 to complete a 5-1 aggregate victory.
