Alexis Sanchez limped away from Barcelona's Spanish Supercup victory over Real Madrid with an injury expected to sideline him one week.

The Chile forward injured a muscle in his left leg during the pre-game warmup Wednesday that forced him to miss out on the 3-2 victory that clinched the dramatic series 5-4 on aggregate.

Barcelona says that the former Udinese striker, who joined the Catalan club in the summer, needs about a week to recover.

Despite Sanchez's injury coach Pep Guardiola decided not to hand new signing Cesc Fabregas a place in the starting line-up, although the former Arsenal skipper did come on for the final 10 minutes.
