The Mexican international opened the scoring for Tigres in the 22nd minute when he drove to the edge of the box and hit a fierce shot into the top corner of the goal in Saturday's match. Argentine Lucas Lobos finished for the second goal in the 41st before Salcido's header in the 87th restored Tigres' two-goal cushion after Fernando Cavenaghi scored for Pachuca in the 66th.
Second-place Atlas had a 1-0 win over Chivas, third-place America defeated Pumas 1-0, Santos Laguna beat Monterrey 1-0 and Morelia came from behind for a 2-1 win over Tijuana in other weekend matches.
Cruz Azul defeated Toluca 2-0 on Sunday to move up to sixth place. In other games in Round 15, Jaguares drew 2-2 with Leon, Queretaro won 2-1 against San Luis and Atlante overcame Puebla 2-0 with a pair of goals from Chilean Esteban Paredes
Christian Gimenez saw his shot from the edge of the penalty area deflect off a Toluca defender and into the corner of the net for Cruz Azul's first in the 19th minute. Colombian Luis Perea headed in Cruz Azul's second from a corner nine minutes later.
In the earlier matches, Chilean Rodrigo Millar tapped in Atlas' winner from close range in the 29th, after Chivas striker Rafa Marquez Lugo had been sent off for dissent in the 17th.
America's only goal against Mexico City rival Pumas came from Christian Benitez in the 23rd, 10 minutes before Martin Bravo was sent off for Pumas.
Santos Laguna's Felipe Boy headed in in the 18th for the winning goal against Monterrey.
Two goals in two second-half minutes helped Morelia defeat Tijuana, which had taken the lead through Dani Marquez in the 34th.
American Joe Corona was sent off for Tijuana in the 88th for a late challenge, and fellow U.S. international Edgar Castillo was red carded two minutes later for something he said to the referee.
