New Jersey-born Giuseppe Rossi and Alessandro Matri scored Tuesday, leading Italy past Euro 2012 co-host Ukraine 2-0 in an exhibition game.

Italy played with 10 men the last 15 minutes and made seven changes from the team that beat Slovenia 1-0 in a Euro 2012 qualifier Friday.

Rossi scored in the 27th minute when a deflected ball fell to him in the box. Matri's goal came in the 81st minute when Italy broke forward on a counter attack as Ukraine pressed for the tying goal.

Ukraine failed to capitalize when Italy substitute Davide Astori was sent off. The hosts were without star striker Andriy Shevchenko because of a family illness.
