Romeu feeling settled at Bridge

Torres has looked far more settled on the field this season than he did last term, and that may be partly to do with his blossoming friendship with his new team-mates off it. "It's better for him, for Juan, for me to have here players from Spain," said Romeu, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona during the transfer window. "You can relax with them, you can speak with them and, on the pitch, I think you have a better relationship to play with them. "We are friends so sometimes we go to dinner, to lunch." Those simple routines can often by overlooked when determining a player's wellbeing, but there is no doubt off-field contentment can boost on-field performance and vice-versa. "If a player plays well and seems well on the pitch, this is better for him," said Romeu, who could not be happier himself after making his Champions League debut in Chelsea's 5-0 thrashing of Genk on Wednesday night. "I'm proud to play my first game in the Champions League. "Obviously, it's a dream for me to play with these players, with this team. "I need to keep working, to keep training well, and then the chance will arrive." Romeu came through the Barcelona academy, now widely regarded as the best conveyor belt of talent in the world. But he insisted he was learning plenty of new tricks playing and training alongside the likes of Frank Lampard, Ramires and Raul Meireles. "It's a dream for me," said the 20-year-old, who looks capable of being the Blues' holding midfielder for many years to come. "I am a young player and to play with these players, I learn a lot." Andre Villas-Boas this week predicted the end of Barca's dominance of European football. The big question is when that will happen, but also whether Chelsea are equipped to take advantage. Romeu is perfectly place to compare the two sides. He said: "The two teams want to keep possession, want to play from the back. "English football and Spanish football are different but they try more or less to do the same. "Barcelona play more slowly. Here, the football is more fast, more direct. "There's more intensity, the players are strong and I like that."
