Roma have made an offer to sign Uruguay international Gaston Ramirez from Bologna, according to the player's agent.

The Eternal City club are looking to strengthen in midfield and the 20-year-old Ramirez is considered the club's number one target.

"The interest from Roma is there and we will meet with them this week,''
Ramirez's agent Vincenzo D'Ippolito said in Gazzetta dello Sport.

"They have already made an offer and we have to find out what Bologna wants to do.

"The player is tempted to go to Roma because it would be a big club to cement his career.''

Ramirez, who was a reported target of Manchester City and Inter Milan earlier this year, joined Bologna from Penarol last summer.

He scored four goals in 25 league appearances to help Bologna stave off the
threat of relegation this season.

The South American youngster is under contract with Bologna until June 2015.
