The Toffees youngster, who has made 20 appearances for the Under-21 side, was given the opportunity to step up by Fabio Capello after an impressive start in the league this year. The 20-year-old has made nine appearances for the Toffees this season scoring two goals. He replaced Phil Jones, who was playing out-of-position, on 57 minutes. Rodwell said: It's a proud moment for me. As a kid I always dreamed of making my senior debut and tonight I've done that. "To make it against the world champions and get the win - it was a perfect night all round." Some pundits had questioned if England's youngsters had what it took to step up to the senior team, however Rodwell feels it is all about experience. He added: "Your first game for the reserves, then the first team; the under-21's and then the senior team. Everything is a learning curve and a step up. It's all good experiences for me and long may it continue." When asked if he was now dreaming of representing England at a major championship the midfielder remained realistic. "I've made my debut tonight, I'm really pleased but I can't look to far ahead. I've just got to concentrate on my club form now."
