River Plate moves within a point of lead

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) River Plate defeated Atletico de Rafaela 2-0 on Sunday to move within a point of the lead in Argentina's first division.
Carlos Carbonero scored in the 53rd minute and Teofilo Gutierrez made it 2-0 in the 85th, just eight minutes after Fernando Cavenaghi struck a penalty off the crossbar.
River improved to 23 points in 13 games, one point behind Estudiantes.
In other matches Sunday, Gimnasia defeated Arsenal 2-0 and Newell's won 1-0 at Godoy Cruz.
