The president of Brazil's football federation has been released from the hospital after being treated for diverticulitis in Rio de Janeiro.
Ricardo Teixeira, who also is the president of Brazil's organizing committee for the 2014 World Cup, left the Pro-Cardiaco Hospital on Saturday, two days after being hospitalized with abdominal pains.
He was diagnosed with diverticulitis, an inflammation of the inner lining of the intestine. His condition did not require surgery.
Teixeira is one of the most powerful men in Brazilian football and has been head of the federation since 1989.
