Report: Germany to call up Butt for World Cup

Germany coach Joachim Loew has reportedly decided to call up Bayern Munich veteran Hans-Joerg Butt as a reserve goalkeeper for the World Cup.

The Bild daily cited unidentified sources at the German football federation in Wednesday's report. It said the 35-year-old Butt would be the third-choice goalkeeper behind Schalke's Manuel Neuer and Werder Bremen's Tim Wiese.

Loew has had to reshuffle his goalkeepers since Bayer Leverkusen's Rene Adler pulled out of next month's tournament in South Africa to undergo surgery on a broken rib.

It remains unclear who the No. 1 will be at the World Cup.

Loew is to announce his 30-man squad on Thursday.
