Birmingham's Premier League fate will be decided on the final day of the season after losing 2-0 to Fulham at St. Andrew's on Sunday.
Norway defender Brede Hangeland opened the scoring in the fifth minute and added his second four minutes after the break to move Fulham provisionally up to eighth place in the standings.
Birmingham is one place above the relegation zone but level on 39 points with two teams in the bottom three - Blackpool and Wigan.
Alex McLeish's League Cup winners, who have won just two of its last 11 matches, play Tottenham away in its last game next Sunday.
