Estonia midfielder Joel Lindpere has signed with the New York Red
Bulls from Norwegian club Tromso.
Tromso spokesman Eirik Haldorsen said Thursday that Lindpere
signed a two-year contract with the Red Bulls with an option for
two additional years.
The 28-year-old Lindpere scored twice in 24 appearances for
Tromso last year. He previously played for CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria
and FC Flora in Tallinn, Estonia.
He has scored five goals in 74 matches for Estonia.
Lindpere told Estonian daily Eesti Paevaleht he had trials at
German and Russian clubs and was surprised that the Red Bulls
wanted to sign him. Lindpere said he has never visited New York
City.
