Real Madrid upset 2-0 by Wolfsburg in Champions League

WOLFSBURG, Germany (AP) Wolfsburg battled its way to a shock 2-0 victory over 10-time winner Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Playing in its first quarterfinal in the competition, Wolfsburg outmuscled the Spanish giant and gave itself a good chance to make the last four.
Ricardo Rodriguez converted a penalty in the 18th minute and Maximilian Arnold added the second in the 25th as the home side used counterattacks to devastating effect.
Cristiano Ronaldo had a strike in the second minute ruled out for offside and the Madrid star never came close to increasing his competition-high tally of 13 goals.
Madrid came into the match following a 2-1 win over Barcelona in the Spanish league ''clasico,'' while Wolfsburg is struggling in the Bundesliga.
