The French football federation has awarded former national team coach Raymond Domenech ?975,000 ($1.38 million) in compensation after being fired last year.

FFF president Noel Le Graet says ''the Domenech issue is closed'' and he will receive ?575,000 ($817,00) relating to the years he had worked for the FFF and ''an additional compensation of ?400,000 ($568,000).''

Domenech's bitter six-year tenure as coach ended after last year's World Cup in South Africa, where France's players shocked a nation by going on strike after striker Nicolas Anelka was sent home.

Domenech remained an FFF employee until he was fired in September. He had initially claimed ?2.9 million ($4.1 million) in damages.
