Rangers: No interest in pair

Rangers have denied making moves to sign former Dundee United pair Prince Buaben and Morgaro Gomis.

The duo's agent Ladi Salami had been quoted as claiming Ibrox boss Ally McCoist was ready to swoop for the pair.

Gomis, 27, left Tannadice to join Birmingham in 2011, while Buaben, 25, moved to Watford after almost four seasons on Tayside.

But an Ibrox spokesman insisted the Light Blues had no plans to bring Frenchman Gomis and former Ghana international Prince Buaben back to Scotland.

A statement released on the club's official website read: "Rangers Football Club can confirm we have no interest in signing former Dundee Utd players Prince Buaben and Morgaro Gomis.

"The players' agent has been in contact with the club to highlight their availability however we have no intention of signing either midfielder.

"Rangers fans can keep informed with accurate information on club media channels."

The report also claimed Aberdeen and Hearts could make moves for the duo, both signed for United in 2007 by former Tannadice and Scotland manager Craig Levein.

Gomis played 19 times for the Blues last season, many as a replacement, while Buaben appeared for only seven minutes as a substitute for beaten Championship play-off finalists Watford.
