Scottish champion Rangers has opened talks with Brazilian side Corinthians with a view to setting up a partnership that could result in swapping youth team players.

Rangers officials recently met their Corinthians counterparts in Brazil to discuss a number of business and marketing initiatives, including offering to help with stadium planning ahead of the 2014 World Cup in the South American country.

Rangers' chief operating officer Ali Russell says on Thursday ''we are both the biggest clubs in our respective countries and we had some broad discussions. We both have big ambitions.''

Any linkup could see Rangers taking on Corinthians in friendlies in Glasgow or Sao Paulo.
