Qatar has asked FIFA to take a "bold gamble" by taking the World Cup to the Middle East for the first time in 2022.

On the eve of FIFA's vote, bid CEO Hassan al-Thawadi says Qatar's presentation has the finances and technology to overcome any logistical challenges, including the heat.

Qatar is competing with Australia, Japan, South Korea and the United States.

The tournament would be held in Qatar when temperatures typically exceed 48 degrees C (118 degrees F), which FIFA has said is a potential health risk.

Al-Thawadi says "heat is not and will not be an issue."

While accepting Qatar would be a "bold gamble," he says there would be "no risks."
