Pulis pleased as Stoke hold on

The Potters made light of blizzard conditions at the Britannia Stadium to lead 3-0 after just 37 minutes as Tuncay Sanli, Abdoulaye Faye and Mamady Sidibe all scored goals to put the hosts in control. But Damien Duff got a goal back with a deflected shot just after the hour mark before substitute Clint Dempsey's stunning volley set up a nervy final five minutes, but Pulis' side held on for a first win in seven league games which moves them up to 10th in the Premier League. Pulis said: "I thought it was a good first half and we could have been more than 3-0 up, but fair play to Fulham, they threw bodies forward and when they got that second goal it got a bit twitchy. "We have played better than today and not got a result, the longer you go without a win the nervier you get." Pulis was delighted to see his side end their run without a win and hopes it can give them a boost for the rest of the season. "We have had a decent start to the season, it could have been a lot better but we are very pleased and it is at home that we can make the difference. Losing to Birmingham was very disappointing and hopefully this will give the lads some confidence."
