Jones has scored three goals in his last three games after an injury-interrupted start to his Potters career. Pulis, though, believes the £8million summer arrival from Sunderland has even more to offer once he is up to full fitness. "Kenwyne's got all the tools to be an outstanding player for this club," said Pulis. "Three goals in his last three games have helped his confidence, but I firmly believe there is a lot more to come from the lad. "We still think he can get fitter, he can be a lot sharper, and if he manages to do that, then he will be a real handful for defenders. "Having said that, he's worked really hard to overcome the injury setback and he has worked well with the other players too, so we're delighted with the impact he has already made. "He is a fantastic signing for this club." Competition for centre-forward places increased over the summer as Pulis also brought in Eidur Gudjohnsen and Ipswich's Jon Walters, who can operate either up front or wide on the right. Pulis hopes that will make Stoke stronger over time as it makes existing players like Ricardo Fuller up their game. "I am sure that Kenwyne's presence will bring the best of him and they could be quite a partnership," Pulis explained. "When we get Eidur Gudjohnsen fit, then we'll have great competition for places. "We knew it would take a bit of time to get him right and we understand that, but others in the squad are responding to the challenge of competing for places." Stoke will come up against another in-form striker at St James' Park on Sunday, Newcastle's Carroll, and Pulis admits he is a player that has been on his radar in the past. The Potters boss said on the official website: "We've looked at Andy, but there have been loads of clubs looking at him, and I am sure there will be a lot more in the future. "Newcastle knew they had something they wanted to keep and fair play to them. "He has played at every representative level for England except full international, but I don't believe it will be all that long before he wins a full cap."
