The French football league ordered both matches between fierce rivals Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille to be played behind closed doors this season.
Both games last season were marred by violence, including the death of one PSG fan.
When there were major clashes in Marseille city center between the teams' supporters, Marseille fans were banned from attending the return match, but factions of PSG fans - long opposed and from different parts of the stadium - fought each other. The ferocious street battles led to the death of the PSG fan.
The French league said in a statement on Thursday that no visiting Marseille fans will be allowed inside Parc des Princes on Nov. 7, and no PSG fans will be at Stade Velodrome on March 19.
"The objective of this measure, which the public authorities were naturally informed about beforehand, is to ensure the best security for everyone after the serious incidents of recent seasons," the LFP said. "This decision goes hand in hand with the policy of fighting against violence undertaken by the state, the French league and the clubs."
