Newcastle striker Nile Ranger has been charged by police with being drunk and disorderly on a night out with friends, less than two days before his team was due to play Stoke in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old Ranger was arrested early Sunday morning in Newcastle city center.
Local police say he ''will appear at magistrates' court later this month.''
Ranger was denied a visa for a preseason tour of the United States because of a criminal record.

He was warned by Newcastle this year for posing for a photo with a replica handgun, was arrested in August on suspicion of assault and is facing a court case for an alleged drink-driving offense.
