Scottish football is set to introduce end-of-season playoffs as part of a significant reconstruction of the league system that will see all four divisions merge under the same organization.
The country currently has a Scottish Premier League and three divisions run by the Scottish Football League, but they will come together under proposals unanimously agreed to by Scotland's 12 top-flight clubs on Tuesday.
The playoffs would see the team finishing 11th in the SPL play those placing second, third and fourth in the division below.
A 12-10-10-10 league structure would remain in place while there would be an ''all-through distribution model involving substantial redistribution to the second tier.''

The proposals will be put to a vote this month.
