Malaga has fired coach Jesualdo Ferreira, with reports in Spain suggesting former Real Madrid manager Manuel Pellegrini is set to take over.
Malaga owner Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nassar Al-Thani decided to make the change with the club winless in six games and 18th in the league. Malaga says B-team coach Rafa Gil will replace Ferreira until a replacement can be found.
Pellegrini, who led Madrid last season after five seasons at Villarreal, is the prime candidate to fill the post.
The Chilean coach was fired by Madrid after failing to win any silverware last season despite a €250 million ($351 million) spending spree.

Ferreira won three Portuguese league trophies with FC Porto, which he left after four seasons to join Malaga.
