Parreira rejects offer to coach Corinthians

Former Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira says he will not accept an offer to take over Brazilian club Corinthians because he wants to remain near his family until the end of the year.
Corinthians is looking for a replacement to Adilson Batista, who left the club after a disappointing 4-3 home loss to minnow Atletico Goianiense on Sunday. The result extended the team's winless streak to five matches.
Corinthians is third in the 20-team standings, five points off the lead but with a game in hand. There will be eight rounds left after the weekend's matches.
Parreira led Brazil to the 1994 World Cup title. He told O Globo's website Wednesday he "promised his family that he would not work until December," but is willing to talk about a project for next year.
