Pardew, who took charge 10 months ago when Ashley dismissed Chris Hughton, has rejuvenated the Magpies, who remain unbeaten in the Premier League and meet Blackburn on Wednesday in the fourth round of the Carling Cup. But Pardew has been keen to cool suggestions that he is too comfortable with the Newcastle owner. "I don't think any manager should be 100 per cent comfortable with his owners," Pardew told Daily Star Sunday. "At some point he will sack me or I will sack me. That's how out game works. I'm not here forever nor is he. "But in the meantime the best thing you can have is the best relationship you can possible have and that's what we've got. "It's not always calm and agreeable. I'll give my opinion and it might not be what Mike thinks and we'll have a discussion about it and usually meet somewhere in the middle," he said. The ex-West Ham boss said Ashley is frustrated that success at Newcastle has not come as quickly as he would like and hopes he can steer them to their first trophy in 56 years. "I'm trying to get the feeling he had when he first walked in when we thought we could make it massive in the Champions League and winning cups," Pardew said. "It's taken him a long time but it's not easy unless you have a sovereign state backing you and then it becomes a bit easier as Manchester City have found very quickly."
