England coach Roy Hodgson has handed attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a surprise start for Monday's European Championship Group D match against France.
The 18-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is the son of former England winger Mark Chamberlain, impressed for Arsenal this season with his marauding runs, nonstop energy, excellent dribbling and his tracking back.
Oxlade-Chamberlain makes only his third appearance for England, and his second start.
He came on as a late substitute against Norway in May and then started the home game against Belgium earlier this month.

His athletic presence should help England's defense cope with France's attacking fullbacks.
