Latics went down 2-1 at Ewood Park but Frenchman N'Zogbia thought he had given his side the lead in the first-half only for referee Kevin Friend to rule his effort out, awarding a foul on Morten Gamst Pedersen in the build-up. Manager Roberto Martinez expressed his bemusement at the decision in the wake of the defeat and N'Zogbia, 24, also insists it was an error. He told the Wigan Evening Post: "I was very, very frustrated with the referee's decision. "All I was looking at was the ball, and all I was concentrating on was trying to score a goal. "Their defender was just standing in front of me, but I don't even think I fouled him. "I just played the ball, put it into the back of the net, and the referee called it a foul. "I asked the referee what I did wrong and he told me I pushed him - but I didn't." The result leaves Wigan languishing in 18th in the Premier League but N'Zogbia believes there were positives to take from the Rovers defeat. "I don't think we played too badly," he added. "We played our usual game and were on top for most of the game. But they managed to score from a free-kick, which was a silly free-kick for us to give away. "If we don't give them that free-kick, they don't score the goal. We made it easy for them by giving them what they wanted. "Free-kicks like that were the only way they were going to hurt us, and the goal also gave them a belief that I don't think they had before that point. "We knew what we had to do - be careful with our tackling around the penalty box - and we didn't do that. "That meant we now have a feeling that we don't deserve. But that's football."
