New Zealand and Chile will meet in an international football friendly at Nelspruit, South Africa on June 9, two days before the World Cup begins.

The match, announced Tuesday by Football New Zealand, will likely be off limits to the public and will be played in three 30 minute periods at the Ingwenyama Sports Grounds, Chile's training base during the Cup.

"I think we've got some really good fixtures lined up leading into our arrival in South Africa so something a bit more informal will be an ideal opportunity to finalize our build-up," New Zealand coach Ricki Herbert said.

New Zealand plays its first World Cup pool match against Slovakia on June 15, while Chile meets Honduras on June 16.
