NWSL names Jeff Plush as new women's soccer league commissioner

CHICAGO -- Jeff Plush is the new commissioner for the National Women's Soccer League.

Plush is a senior executive with more than 20 years of operating experience in the sports and entertainment industry.

He's a former MLS board member and managing director of the Colorado Rapids. On the MLS board from 2006-11, Plush helped the league evolve from 12 to 19 teams and added 13 soccer-specific stadiums.

Before joining the NWSL, Plush was managing partner of Helium Sports Group.

The nine-team NWSL pro league begins its third season in April with clubs in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Kansas City, Portland, Seattle, New Jersey, New York and Washington.

The pro league is supported by soccer federations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
