FC Nuremberg and Switzerland forward Albert Bunjaku will be out of action for about six months with a right knee injury.
Nuremberg says the 26-year-old had an operation on Wednesday.
The club says Bunjaku had complained of knee problems in recent days and the symptoms worsened after Nuremberg's 1-1 draw against Hamburg on Saturday.
