In the 12th coaching change in the Italian Serie A since August, Novara has fired Attilio Tesser and replaced him with Emiliano Mondonico.
Mondonico has not coached in the top division since being fired by Fiorentina seven years ago. He quit as coach of Serie B Albinoleffe in the offseason to focus on battling cancer.
Tesser had been at Novara since 2009 and took the team to back-to-back promotions. Novara (2-12-6) is last in the 20-team Serie A.
The move was announced Monday.
