No Villa departures - McLeish

The likes of Jean Makoun, Luke Young and Barry Bannan have all been linked with moves away from Villa Park before the transfer window slams shut next Wednesday. McLeish is unsure whether he will be able to bring in any new faces, although he knows it would be dangerous to weaken his options by offloading some of his fringe players. "We're too thin on the ground," McLeish told The Sun. Bannan is a target for Blackpool but McLeish is reluctant to let him leave. "Ian Holloway asked me about Bannan a couple of months ago and I said 'no'. I was assessing the squad and we're too thin really to let anybody go," the Scot said in the Express & Star. "That goes for Jean Makoun too because, if Jean went, the clock is ticking down and I don't know if I could bring somebody else in. "It would be dangerous to lose some experienced players."
