Samir Nasri and Emmanuel Frimpong will not face any action over their post-match tunnel row at the Emirates Stadium.

The pair clashed verbally after Manchester City's 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the Carling Cup but the incident has not been reported to the Football Association.

Nasri, who had been given a torrid time by the Gunners fans on his first return to Arsenal since his summer move to City, and Frimpong were involved in a heated exchange after leaving the pitch at the final whistle.

An Arsenal spokesman said: "Words were exchanged - that was that, there were no punches thrown but there was a lot of noise.

"Sami was speaking in French and Mani wasn't. It was handbags but they didn't even touch."

On the night Sergio Aguero came off the bench to fire City into the semi-finals

Both teams had made sweeping changes, but despite plenty of industry from Arsene Wenger's young side - with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain again producing an impressive display - it was big-spending City who had the edge as £35million Argentina striker Aguero slotted home with seven minutes left following a sweeping counter-attack.
