A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan has dropped the national football team's suspension threat.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the official announcement had not yet been made.
FIFA gave Nigeria until Monday evening to back off the threatened suspension.
A presidential spokesman announced Wednesday that the team would be suspended for two years after Nigeria left the World Cup with just one point from three matches.
