Nasri eyes new Gunners deal

The 23-year-old has emerged as a key figure in manager Arsene Wenger's first-team line-up since arriving at the Emirates Stadium from Marseille in 2008. Nasri, whose current deal expires in 2012, has scored nine goals in 20 Premier League appearances so far this term. Speculation has surfaced that Spanish giants Barcelona could swoop for the attacker should they fail to capture team-mate Cesc Fabregas, who is also on a long-term deal at the north London club, at the end of the season. But Nasri's agent Jean-Pierre Bernes says the France international is on the verge of penning a new contract at Arsenal, which will reportedly keep him there until 2016. Bernes said in the Daily Express: "Samir has done his three seasons with Arsenal and the wise thing to do is to stay with this club." Nasri is currently sidelined having picked up a hamstring injury during Arsenal's FA Cup victory over Huddersfield at the weekend which saw them progress to the last 16. The midfielder is likely to miss the Gunners' crucial Champions League tie against Barcelona at the Emirates in two weeks' time.
