LAUSANNE, Switzerland --
FIFA presidential hopeful David Nakhid has lost his appeal against being excluded from the election contest for filing invalid nomination papers.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport says its panel dismissed Nakhid's case in an urgent ruling on Monday.

The court says reasons for the verdict will be given within days.
Nakhid, a former Trinidad and Tobago international, was among eight election applicants in October. FIFA's election committee blocked him because one of his five nominating federations broke rules by also proposing another contender.
The federation, reportedly the U.S. Virgin Islands, had both its nominations annulled.
