Japan left-back Yuto Nagatomo is keen to prove his worth after joining Inter Milan on loan from Cesena for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old sealed his switch on Monday, with Davide Santon moving on loan in the opposite direction, and is keen to make an impact with the reigning Serie A champions.

He told the Inter website: "I'm very happy to have joined Inter, the world champions. Now I have to prove to everyone that I can play.

"What's happened today came out of the blue, but now that I'm here I have to give it everything I've got."

The move completes a fantastic week for the former FC Tokyo man, who featured at last year's World Cup, after he helped the national side to Asian Cup glory in Sunday's final win over Australia.

He will become the first Japanese player to represent the Nerazzurri and he said: "That fills me with great pride. I really want to succeed wearing the Nerazzurri colours."
