Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu has asked the club for a chance to return after walking out on the team earlier this month.
The Romanian has been left out of the Fiorentina squad ever since abandoning training a day ahead of the match against Bologna on Jan. 6.
Mutu told reporters Wednesday that ''I am sorry for this situation. I made a mistake leaving my team, my coach and the club. The fact is I was badly advised by my former agent.''
It was the latest in a long line of troubled episodes for Mutu. In October he attacked a barman little more than a week before his return from a nine-month doping ban.

Mutu has also been ordered to pay his former club Chelsea more than ?17 million ($22 million) in compensation in a lengthy legal case.
