Moyes expected hard season

The Toffees have regularly challenged for European qualification in recent years but they have struggled for consistency during the early part of this season and currently occupy ninth place in the Premier League. Back-to-back victories over Wolves and Bolton have lifted them clear of trouble and raised hopes for the next few months, but Moyes is remaining realistic. He feels there is a lot of potential in the squad but recognises that Everton are missing a prolific striker and is concentrating on securing survival before setting any more ambitious targets. "I always thought this would be a hard season," Moyes said in The Sun. "We have the core of a good team, with young up-and-coming midfielders, but we haven't got someone who is going to score 15-20 goals a season. "We need to get to 40 points like every other team and then see where we can go from there."
