Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has paid tribute to coach Rafael Benitez ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup final.

The Spaniard has endured a difficult start at Inter as the replacement for Jose Mourinho, with the club 13 points adrift of city rivals AC Milan in the Serie A title hunt.

However, the Nerazzurri have reached the final of the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi and will face Congolese club Mazembe on Saturday after beating South Korean side Seongnam 3-0 in yesterday's semi-final.

"Benitez has shown a lot of focus as a great professional," said Moratti.

"He has got a very difficult situation back under control.

"He has done really well, all with great seriousness and experience.

"Yesterday's game was very delicate."

As for this weekend's final, Moratti said: "The Congolese are proving to be a dangerous team.

"But in this tournament, the important thing is not to participate but to win."

Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder is set to miss the final after suffering a thigh injury yesterday.
