Monterrey makes quarters with 2-2 draw at Saprissa

Mexican club Monterrey reached the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League with a 2-2 draw at Costa Rican side Saprissa on Tuesday.
Monterrey had won all four previous matches in Group C and only needed a point to guarantee qualification as group winner.
Luis Rodriguez opened the scoring for Monterrey in the sixth minute, before an own goal from Severo Meza leveled the score in the 16th.
Abraham Carreno had given a second-string Monterrey side the lead for the second time in the 32nd. Saprissa defender Jose Mena equalized with a header in the 66th minute.

Saprissa is second with six points, tied with Marathon, which has a game in hand. Seattle Sounders is last with no points.
