Monterrey defeated Club America 2-0 in the second leg of their Mexican Clausura semi-final to secure an aggregate win by the same scoreline.

There was all to play for on Saturday night after a goalless first meeting between the teams, and a goal in each half sealed matters in the hosts' favour.

Jose Maria Basanta opened the scoring after nine minutes and Aldo De Nigris put the result beyond doubt with a second goal seven minutes after the interval.

Monterrey will face either Tigres Monterrey or Santos Laguna in the final.
