Anthony Modeste's strike seven minutes from time ensured Bastia were not shocked by Ligue 2 side Auxerre in the Coupe de la Ligue.
The visitors were relegated from the top flight after finishing bottom of the table and have hardly set Ligue 2 alight currently sitting 11th after 13 matches.
The game looked set for extra-time after a goalless 80 minutes before Modeste popped up with the winner to ensure his side's passage into the quarter-finals.
