Columbus Crew defender Josh Williams has been suspended for 10 games by Major League Soccer for violating the substance abuse policy and testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

MLS announced Wednesday that Williams tested positive for the banned substance methandienone metabolites.

Williams has also been fined 10 percent of his annual salary.

The league says Williams purchased and ingested an over-the-counter nutritional supplement containing the banned substance.
