Mirko Slomka will remain Hannover coach until 2013, the Bundesliga club announced Tuesday.

The 43-year-old has agreed to sign for another two years after guiding Hannover to its best ever first half of a season.

Hannover is currently third in the league standings after 19 games, 13 points behind leader Borussia Dortmund.

Slomka took over from Andreas Bergmann in January 2010, when he successfully guided the side away from relegation trouble.

He will sign the contract extension Wednesday, ending speculation he would quit at the end of the season.

''The work here is fun,'' Slomka said. ''I get a lot of support and the team has made excellent progress.''
