Milenko Acimovic retires with knee injury

Austria Vienna midfielder Milenko Acimovic has ended his football career following a persistent right knee injury.

Austria Vienna says the former Slovenia international underwent meniscus surgery in April but never fully recovered.

Acimovic says ''my knee isn't playing along anymore. I would only be able to play with pain killers ... that's all useless.''

The 33-year-old Acimovic, who also had stints at Red Star Belgrade, Tottenham and Lille, played 74 matches and scored 13 goals for the Slovenian national team between 1997 and 2008.
