Monaco has signed Montpellier midfielder Gregory Lacombe on loan until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old Lacombe, who started his career at Monaco, joined Montpellier three years ago but failed to win a regular starting place since the southern club returned to the topflight in 2009.
Monaco is second from bottom in the French league standings, two points from safety, and Lacombe says his goal will be to help the club stay in the first division.
Lacombe could play on Sunday against defending champion Marseille.
