Brazilian midfielder Cicero is joining Wolfsburg on a one-year loan after spending two years on loan at Hertha Berlin.
Wolfsburg said Wednesday that the agreement with Brazilian club Tombense also includes an option to buy the 25-year-old player.
The club, which was the Bundesliga champion in 2008-09 but finished eighth last season, has been reinforcing its squad as it prepares for its first season under English coach Steve McClaren.
Cicero's arrival comes after Wolfsburg signed Germany defender Arne Friedrich and Denmark defender Simon Kjaer. Friedrich, like Cicero, joined from Hertha, which was relegated last season.
